Palakkad accident: Four children to be laid to rest together, no public viewing at school

The bodies will be brought from the hospital to their homes at 6 am. A public viewing will be held for two hours.At 8.30 am, the bodies will be taken to the Thuppanadu Karimpanakkal Hall. After a public viewing until 10 am, the bodies will be brought to the Thuppanadu Jumma Masjid for burial. Meanwhile, there will be no public viewing at the Karimba Higher Secondary School where the children studied.

It is said by the families of the children that the public viewing at the school was avoided as it was Friday and additional time will be needed to bury four bodies.

The deceased are Aysha, the daughter of Sharafudheen and Sajna of Athikkal House, Rida Fathima, the daughter of Abdul Rafiq and Sajeena of Pilathodi House, Nida Fathima, the daughter of Abdul Saleem and Nabeesa, and Irfana Sheril, the daughter of Abdul Salam and Farisa.

The tragic incident occurred at around 4 pm when the Class eight students, having just finished their exams, were waiting at the bus stop to return home. As the out-of-control lorry came speeding towards them, one of the students jumped out of the way.

The lorry then overturned onto the other children. Three girls died on the spot, and one, who was seriously injured, passed away later while receiving treatment at the hospital. The bodies of the three girls were taken to the Thachampara Esaf Hospital, and the body of the fourth girl was taken to the Mannarkkad Mother Care Hospital.
